    On the front page, when I click on "view latest post" on a thread that I have never opened before, the subject stays as "unviewed" (the font color doesn't change) when I return to the front page.

    I press my browser refresh in case it's a cache problem but it doesn't appear to be so.

    Is this normal?
    There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

    Those are different links. So your browser does not know that you have visited that page.
