  1. On the advise of the forum I got DVD Menu Studio and it looks really nice. But I've got a small problem trying to make subpictures. The online help file:

    C:\Program Files\DVDMenu\Help\indexdvd.htm

"When the background is ready, simply switch into a Subpicture mode (Usually Sub 1 or Sub 2) and draw the subpicture.. ..and draw an underline with Rectangle tool for each menu item we want."

Ok, simple enough. But I can't figure out how to do this! The manual makes it sound/look like all you do is select subpicture1, draw a rectangle, and the subpic is created. But when I try to do this I select the background image.

I can only make subpics by selecting a layer (another bmp or text) and then choosing "copy to subpic." I know there's another/easier way to do this.

What I'd like to do is take a background (either still image or a screen capture from a motion menu). Highlight where I want to buttons to go. Then export to author in DVD Maesto.

Isn't there some way to create a subpic based on the background you imported?

I've noticed that the "copy to subpic" button only copies to subpicture 1, which is handy if you're only planning on using one subpic. Selecting the image or text you want to use as subpic 2-4 I've just copied (using the command), then selected which subpic I want it placed in and pasted it there. You can't create the actual button areas for export to Maestro IIRC. You still have to create the button areas from within Maestro. You can use Menu Studio to create and export the color scheme for the subpics which is handy.

Once you have your background picture imported to DVD Menu Studio, click on your choice of subpicture color then on the left panel, use the line or rectangle tool to draw your subpicture to where you want the buttons placed. Next, export it as a .psd file to DVD Maestro. Then just simply import the .psd file to Maestro and create your buttons and you're all set.
