THe end of Edonkey

In using SHareaza beta, I've been introduced to the Bitorrent network.

I love this, and I think it will kill Edonkey.

I just downloaded the entire simpsons season 5 in 3 hours, while downloading 1 simpsons on Edonkey could take months.


I hope that Bitorrent picks up more files and kills Edonkey, never liked it, much to slow.

was going to try that today,but the movie i was looking for was not there. they seem to have a limited selection and mostly screeners at that

i sometimes get a little peeved at the speed of the donkey,but i doubt it will ever die. they mostly have any movie your looking for

Let me throw out a different method that I like...

It's called Usenet! And it is anon-Y-mouse (if you use a good server)!

If you want, I'll explain why I don't like p2p, or even IRC (though the latter has some protection).

I luv newsgroups but they r a problem because comcast only gives 1 gig a month free downloads because they contract w/ giganews for newsgroups.

Yeah, I hear you. Been worth the $15.00 a month for Giganews though. Always comes through in a pinch when I need things!

there are too many leeches on edonkey and hardly any sources and even if you find a source you'll be the 2,800th queue. edonkey is dead, irc and usenet will live until the death of the internet

Let's hope so. With DMCA, and the feds cracking down, and all that. Man then it would be back to those semi private FTP groups. What a nightmare. If you don't live at your computer, the stuff is gone by the time you get there. Ratios, all that crap. That would suck! Been there, tried that, too much work for me. Best if you have a symetric connection too, the faster the better.

I would only use IRC through a proxy though. You never know who is really running that server . And then you get to wait in que forever, unless you know the Op, keep getting bumped when one of their friends comes along, etc.

ACK! I shudder to think of life without Usenet.
