How long does it take you guys to encode an AVI to MPEG. I have an AMD 850 with 256RAM and an ATA100 HD and it takes me about 2Hrs to encode a 20min AVI with the quality set at highest, noise reduction settings at 60, 1, 20 respectively. High quality mode is unchecked. With this option checked it adds about an hour to the encoding time. I'm using the XVCD template here.
If I were to ugrade my processor to a 1.4 how much of a speed boost could I expect? Would my encoding time be cut at least in half of better?

i am running AMD900 with 256RAM. yes it is VERY long to encode an AVI file. I'm not sure if a faster processor will help with the speed much from what i've gathered. for myself i am looking to double my RAM for the speed. i have an extra 256 chip that i can't get passed the BSOD. i could be wrong on the processor question. by the way, on your second post, i have the problem too. alot of views but no opinions.
