Also, try looking at it with AVICodec, its not as over-whelming as GSpot and will tell you exactly what codec it needs

Try looking at ACEs codec pack, Nemo has a couple of quirks, but then again, I use bits from both of them, so I can't comment on either !

    What MediaPlayer you using ??

I have some files that I can generate with an MPEG Encoder that MS MediaPlayer moans it can't play, but just ignore that error, and it will try to play it anyway, and majority of the time still plays it, even though it says it can't find a codec for that movie

Have a look at The Core Media Player, its not as bloated as MS MediaPlayer, and does just the same, and frequently plays stuff that MS MediaPlayer can't or won't play

Personally, I use both of them, if one won't play something I'm checking, then the other will
