I have a Sony HandyCam DCR-TRV350, with ImageReady software. tHe problem is that while I can download the pictures from the Memory card, for some reason the ImagerReady software cannot dect the Camcorder. Are there any freeware capture software that transfers using USB.
I do have a onboard firewire port but that doesn't seem to be working either.

My Sony DCR-TRV140 came with Pixela USB downloading software. Although I prefer the fireiwre function, this Sony software worked as advertised. I think you should really look into why your firewire does not work. Once you see your loved ones in DV, you never want to use any other format unless absolutely necessary.
