lets just say I aquired some .pdi files via a .torrent.

Is there a way to actually beable to use these files? Supposedly this is to be a DVD much like a video_ts folder. VLC will play them apparently (to my supprise) and it looks just like what I expected.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried using these and gotten them successfully to be a dvd.

    Thanks

  2. Just download pdiextract, install the Dev tool, Mac SDK, compile, then do pdiextract -i <somefile>.iso <somefile>.pdi. That'll make an iso out of the 4 or so .pdi files, then you can treat it like a normal iso.

    Or try pdiextract -d <dir to extract files to> -v <somefile>.pdi

that rips the VIDEO_TS dir to <dir to extract files to>

Nice! That's a great tip. I've never heard of that utility before, thanks for the info! One thing, what Mac SDK do you need to install? You mean Xcode and the dev tools, right?

  4. All you need on the DevTools CD is /Packages/DeveloperTools.pkg and /Packages/DevSDK.pkg. Thats all I needed for compiling.

BTW, I'm using Panther, but most likely it should be the same for 10.2.X.

OK, it seems the tool is actually called "pdixtract", and can be found here (direct link to .zip archive containing Windows executable and C source code).
[Edit]From the optional tags listed in the C code, it seems pdixtract might be a different tool. In the one I can find, -v is to make a VIDEO_TS folder. Can you provide any linkage to the one you're talking about? Thanks.[/Edit][Edit2]Ignore my last edit, I seem to be having some reading comprehension malfunction[/Edit2]

Yep, seems to be the same one I found, and this seems to be the official distro source. Disregard my previous comment about the options; apparently, I'm an illiterate idiot . . . either that or I've been working too hard this week. On second thought, yeah, that's a great excuse, scratch that illiterate idiot bit . . . When I get home later tonight, I'll compile a CLI executable, and host it on my iDisk for all you non-compiling Mac users out there. Do you know if this program has any recommended or required dependencies?
On a side note, didn't Gumby or something have some kind of tool for PDI images, or was it for a different format?

HAH! Didn't realize that original post was so old. Oh well, I guess it's still a useful utility to have, so I'll give compiling a shot later on. Don't have any PDI images to try it with, though . . .

  10. Actually I came across this post looking for a pdi to iso tool, looked at the date, and decided I better compile one myself. I didnt think I needed to do such things on a Mac!

Anyways, thought it would be useful to someone else, especially if they grabbed the same *ahem* files I did and said WTF??????
