  1. Converted DivX PAL 432x176 to MPG2 PAL 352x288 16:9 with MainConcept.
I've recorded the file using MovieFactory and DVDit PE. Both gave me the same results.
When I play the DVDR on my SAMPO 612, I'm getting full screen rather than letterbox.
The image is stretched. How can I force it to letterbox?

  2. May be that your authoring software doesn't accept 16:9. Try tmpgenc dvd author. Its what i use and I have no probs with my sony dvd switching my TV to widescreen mode.

  3. Actually I think the problem is either:

    1) Trying to create an anamorphic x(S/C)VCD (which are not supported by any standard and few players play).

    2) Trying to create an anamorphic DVD at 352x288. The DVD standard actually only allows for anamorphic discs at 720x480/576. A 352x576 or 352x288 anamorphic disc will still play (normally) but the DAR will be all screwed up.

Also you save your source is a 16:9 Divx file? And you want to encode a 16:9 flagged disc (DVDR or CDR)? Well actually the DivX file has a DAR of 1:1. All PC video has a DAR of 1:1 (it might have been 16:9 prior to being encoded as a divx, but it's 1:1 on your pc).

That can also cause problems. I don't use main concept, but in TMPGenc you need to set the aspect ratio of your source correctly when you encode or your get outpur ratio problems.

If you want it as 352x288 you can't use 16:9 as vejita says. Then just make it 4:3 with black borders, so called letterboxed format. But mainconcept standalone encoder can't add black borders, you can use avisynth or virtualdub to add the black borders and then frameserve to mainconcept or use tmpgenc.

  5. Can I make the file 720x480 and still have it 25fps? I have tried to change it to 23, but it doesn't come out right.
