  1. Hi... I always understood that when you convert a DivX movie to VCD format it will get larger in size. But, I have a DivX movie (DivX 5.0.3 Codec / 704 x 432 format) of 714 MB and when I convert it to VCD with TMPGEnc using the VCD template I get an MPG of just 496 MB.

Also the DivX is of a superb quality, almost DVD, but the MPG is much less quality and has quiet a lot of blockiness. Am I doing something wrong and is there a way to get a better quality MPG...? Thanx a lot for your help cause I have been trying everything....

check your settings in tmpgenc you dont hafta use a template to make your vcd you can play around with the settings till you find a combat ion the meets your needs
cancel the wizard then then click load then then the extra folder -> unlock.mcf this will unlock all the settings

those are a few settings to getting started on make an xvcd after you change your setting you can save them by clicking 'save' name it something like XVCD then you can select it from the wizard everytime it loads.... it will take to cd's to for 1 movie you can use the source range to split the movie in half
