  5. TMPEGenc Pro works pretty fast in VBR when you cache the 1st pass. Depends on system specs.

    speed or quality?

on my system, Main Concept encodes at about 2x the length of the original file (10 minutes to encode a 5 minute file) versus TMPGenc's 5-6x (25-30 minutes to encode a 5 minute file).

The reason I stick with TMPGenc is that the quality is so much better than Main Concept.

as far as where you can get it, try http://www.mainconcept.com/mpeg_encoder.shtml

  7. pc is a P4 2gig, 512 of ram, pref quality rather than speed.

Is there not a quick way of burning these to a single CD or should i look at DVD instead?

  8. to make movie fit on 1 cd its the bitrate that does it, eg if a film is 1 hour 15 mins i.e. 75 mins (700meg cd = 80 mins) normal vcd bitrate of 1150 is

fine, but this is where it gets weird

ive encoded films that are around 1 hour 50 (110 mins) that fit on 1 cd by lowering the bitrate, quality does go the further down the bitrate you make it but not much until you reach aboput 800 and less

if you want quality then you need to think about 2 cd's

    try this link

    www.data-uca.150m.com/vcdencoding.doc

tells you about working out bitrate and encoding etra

    I'm sticking to 2 cdr...at 32cents a pop ,I'm not complaining.

Dude, if you are getting better quality from TMPGenc than you are with Main Concept, you are doing something seriously wrong with Main Concept.

On that note, Procoder kicks both their asses.
