I just purchase the new DMR-E50 to finnaly replace my VCR (not my Denon DVD-1600).
I have it connected in the follwing way:
XBOX and DMR-E50 conntected with Cinema Quest YiQ-1 component cables swithing through my Pioneer VSX-45TX receiver.
2 satelites running through the line inputs 1 and 3 on the back of the E50.
They are connected with Cinema Quest silver composite. The satelites only have one set of S-video outs.
Nothing connected through the rf input.
All video souces are displayed on a Panny 51" Hidef rearprojection TV.
Here are my questions:
If I turn on my DirecTV system on its on TV input connected with a Ultralink silver S-Video Cable and compare its picture quality when run throught the E50 through composite input and output through component on the e50 I get the following results.
The picture on the input direct to the satelite through S-Video looks more colorfull. The color is richer.
If I switch to the input form the E50 the picture is not as rich in color. It is a little duller.
If I put in a DVD movie with good qualtiy color and video the picture is excellent.
My main question is what am I doing wrong and also how do I resolve this to make both the input from the satelite look the same as the orignal source viewed from a direct connection to the satelite.
If I record a show from the satelite and want to watch it later I want it t look the same as if I was watching it through the Direct connection.
I Hope someone can help because these issues are driving me nuts.
