Close disk or not? What is the difference?

The default in Recordnow Max is 'TAO and Do not Close Disk'.

Would you please explain the difference?

Before I saw this as the default, I assumed I was burning 'DAO and Close Disk'.

i dont have record now MAX but i have record now DX (came with my burner) and my default setting was and still is to close the disc. never looked at the other settings.
but im surprised yours is default to leave the disc open.
and open disc can be appended but they almost ALWAYS have to be closed to work in anything other than a computer.
