  1. Hey all,
I am expieriencing problems with my new dvd drive for computer. I just bought a Pioneer 16x model 116. I love the drive so far, and it plays the dvd's just fine. However then i tried to rip(backup) Austin Powers 1. I had no problem, i ripped it at 7x - 9x all the way and i was able to get the rip. Then i tried Austin Powers 2. It started off at 2.2x - 3x as a rip speed. I thought this was a bit odd but i left it go. It got about 22% done, the blue screen flashed for about 1 second (windows 2000 style) and then reset my pc. I then went back and tried Austin 1 again and had exactly the same prob as i had with Austin 2. Im really stumped on this one. Any ideas whats going on? I have updated my firmware, same prob. And im using smart ripper.

    Thanks in advance
    Best regards

  3. Hello again,

Just in reply to the last reply, i tried DVD decrypter, and it did the first chapter then got about 5% into the next one and i got the smae prob, except this time, i saw what the blue screen said - something about ntoskrnl.exe and a memory problem, i know its not much, but if anyone knows the solution to my prob, or what ntoskrnl is, i'd be appreciative
    Best Regards

i believe a complete scan disk with disk surface examination is in order.

i really dont know but perhaps you have a error in a very important sector of your hdd.

  6. Oh man I know what your going thru. Just happened to me today (except it happened no matter what prog. I opened) heres what I gathered from all my searching actually the problem is there was a fatal "Stop" error and as one of the recovery functions of Win2k It tries to copy or "Dump" the memory to the hardrive. For some solutions try to upgrade of SP2, and also go check out http://www.computing.net

Good Luck (I had to finally reinstall win2k)
