  1. What am i doing wrong.
I'm trying to make a dvd that i can play on my sony dvd player, the details of the file i'm trying to convert are:-
Codec: DivX 5 Bitrate: 725 Kbit/s Width: 544 Height: 304 Fps: 23.976 Audio Info: Codec: MPEG Layer 3 BitRate: 132 Kbit/s (Rounded BitRate) Channels: 2 (Stereo) Sample Rate: 48,000 Hz Miscellaneous Size (MB): 697 MB Size (kB): 713,599 KB Size (real): 730,724,988 Length: 110 minutes, 57 seconds.
I took the advice from the tutorial and used virtual dub for the sound file.
my TMPGEnc settings are as follows.
Format PAL(16:9), CBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio(MP2), Video type Non Interlace Aspect Ratio 1:1 VGA. (tried changing content of video from video movie due to the file being 23.976 Fps, but it won't let me), no filters selected, average video birate changed from 4815 to 4050, DVD-R 4.7GB(UDF) selected.
when i try to burn it on nero i get an error saying the file is greater than 2GB try another format, or i get the message unexpected file.
I also tried to burn it on DVD Movie Factory 2, i did a test burn but the test failed.

can anyone please help me as i want to try out my new sony DW-U10a

    Heres Hoping

Standard Nero can not author DVD, you can not just add a mpg file and burn it. ( You maybe have nero vision that can author dvds???)

You can use moviefactory to author the dvd and change the output to dvd folder, after that you can try burn to dvd-video with nero. Start Nero and choose dvd-video, add all files in the video_ts folder that moviefactory have created and burn. (You can also try copytodvd, recordnow max if they support your dvd writer).

  4. I've just encoded the first 3 mins of the above file using the above settings
and it burnt and played perfectly.
I burnt it using MovieFactory, however when i do a test burn on the full file the test fails even tho the dvd space needed is 3.8GB and the dvd space available is showing at 4.4GB.
What do i still need to do to make this file fit on one dvd ?

    cheers
