In the configuration for divX 5.0.5, the default Encoding Bitrate is 780 kbps. What does Encoding Bitrate mean? What does it do? And also, at the top of that, there's the default 1 pass. What is it. Can we change it?

The clue is in the title, i.e. it is the bitrate at which your source is encoded. In this case 780000 bits per second!
