  1. I believe that is the bit rate of vcd's (it could be WAVs, if im wrong correct me) so anyway, will a movie at 352x288 25fps 1152bps in mpeg2 quality look exactly the same as those specs in mpeg1? or does mpeg2 make crappy pics with such low settings? or does it handle macroblocks differently or something?

The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be.

  3. ive never compared mpeg1 & 2 at same resolutions and bitrate.

as 352x288 is a VCD resolution it is not a SVCD resolution but that doesnt mean u cant have a mpeg2 at that resolution it just means it wont be playable as SVCD in a standalone player.

svcd resolutions are 480x576/480 at those resolutions u would need a higher bitrate

Though theoretically similar, I find MPEG2 at MPEG1 resolutions to look horrible. If you need it at MPEG1 resolution, then use MPEG1. It's part of the DVD spec.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  5. dude im looking for comparisons not opinions. I dont care if it aint svcd compliant that was just an example, and anyway, 352x288 may not be a 'standard' svcd format but it still plays fine. much like 44khz instead of the 'required' 48khz

    but thanks oodles nerdboy69!
