Your capture will only be as good as the quality you start with, at best.

    This should help:

I'm not sure if your card can capture to mpeg2 (dvd format) directly, so I suggest capturing to avi (uncompressed) and then convert to mpeg2.

Your specs don't indicate that you have a dvd burner - are you sure you want to do this?

  5. I think ATI AIW 8500DV can to realtime to mpeg2. And i do have dvd burner. When i use ATI MMC 7.5 capture the movie from direct tv, it come out with file name *mp2 ....... and i really don't know what to do with that file........ Most of the guide that show the setting not step by step with the file. THanks for your help.

I think VirtualVCR is the best (free) AVI capture tool. Give it a try. I'm sure u won't be disappointed.

If u wanna do mpeg2 captures in realtime, then PowerVCR is gr8. ShowShifter works like a charm for realtime DivX capture.

Well, seems that you are worried about mp2 name...

it is just the name MMC gives to MPEG-2 files... if you are not glad with mp2 extension, rename it to mpg...

but MMC files are not compliant files, as I know... you will need some tweaks... find in tools section MMC REGTOOL and give a try...
