  1. I downloaded an Avi movie. When I try to play it in DivX I get an error saying that divx doesn't recognize the video data. Then it says the type of data is FOURCC code "o", and I have no clue what that means. The error also says I may need to download a new codec, but I have the 2.1 divx The person I downloaded it from has a note saying you need Divx.
I need help please! Hopefully you guys can help.

use gspot (available in tools section to the left) to see what codecs are used in the avi and what codecs you have on your machine.

  5. I downloaded GSpot, It said it's a valid AVI movie, is uncompressed and doesn't need a codec to play. I rendered it, directshow claims to be able to play it with avi splitter and video renderer. I'm not sure what all this means but I still has the unknown video data message when I try to play it. I'll upload the image to you guys can see it of gspot results and the error message.

  6. I'm having the same problem.. Here's what Gspot errors me:

"0x480040218 VFW_E_CANNOT_RENDER No combination of filters could be found to render the stream" "DirectShow is apparently NOT able to play this file"

    What filters do i/we need??

I would hate to be on trial when you are on jury duty. Guilty until proven innocent?

Firstly, he made no mention of the movie having a copyright, so it could be any type of movie he downloaded. People use the word "movie" generically for a video stream regardless of whether it is a holloywood block-buster.

Secondly, there is no mention of warez? If you are referring to DivX, it is a valid codec you can link to from this site.

Thirdly, he made no mention of Kazaa. Perhaps you are a ventriloquist the way you are putting words in other peoples mouths.

Is it that time of month, perhaps?

Which reminds me of a good joke:

My boyfriend, not happy with my mood swings, bought me a mood ring the
other day so he would be able to monitor my moods. When I'm in a good
mood it turns green. When I'm in a bad mood it leaves a big f***ing red
    mark on his forehead.

Maybe next time he'll buy me a diamond !!!!

  9. Iam BruceLee,
Divx is for avi films using the Divx codec. If your film is uncompressed as gspot says, you will not be able to play it in Divx. See if it plays in Windows Media Player.

nerdboy....read more carefully....you will notice he edited the post. but.....I should not assume, you are correct about that...I was merely trying to help him avoid trouble...that is all, you interpreted my post incorrectly....and did not bother to see he had edited his previous post.

It seems as though no bothers to read the others posts carefully anymore.

and if their is anything else that is more annoying than someone who isnt thourough it is someone who isnt thourough and has big mouth on him....

Damn. Caught out by the fine print and someone tampering with the evidence.

I admit, I was probably in lynch-mob mode when I wrote that reply, and you are absolutely correct in that I did not notice he had edited his post. Given that, I most humbly opologise. Given I have no means of knowing what the original text was, my assumptions regarding your closet puppeteering are unfounded, and my first two points may also be incorrect ( ? ) so consider them withdrawn.

But that is not important now. What is more important is whether you liked my joke!

  13. THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS!!
I think I'll just spend $6.50 and see it in the movie theater. Maybe looking for it in a diferent format would work?? I'll try this maybe tonight and see what happens.
I've tried playing with Quick Time and Windows Media too, no errors but there isn't a picture.

  14. From what i see this is an XVID file (FOURCC).

Make shure you have the XVID codex installed.

  15. I wonder if that's it..... I don't have that installed.
