That depends. What size was the movie before you let IC7 loose on it?
(ie. after DVD Shrink, but before IC7).
The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be.

  6. Yes, update3 seems better,

did red dragon a few days ago. came to 3.5
now with justa little over shooting, its past
4.36, so i guess just leave it to max and
    see what happens...

  7. I ran the update3 and my version says 7.0.3.140, 5/15/2003. Am I on right version?

  8. One thing I like is the CLI commands.

I was able to setup a simple batchfile to rip and process in 1 click.

    See Ex:

    del c:\instant\*.* /q
    del d:\image\*.* /q
    "C:\Program Files\DVD Decrypter\DVDDecrypter.exe" /mode file /src g: /dest c:\instant /files all /start /overwrite yes /close
    "C:\Program Files\InstantCD+DVD\InstantCopy\MultiCopy.exe" /srcimage c:\instant\video_ts.ifo /dstimage d:\image\image.pdi /autostart

Downloaded it just now, it says the following:

    Bug Fixes/Improvements:

Better usage of destination disk capacity
    Optimized video quality
    Overall speed improvements
    "Phantom cell sets" fixed
Still picture problem fixed (occured in menus with sound)
Demux errors fixed (aka SID error)
What is new in this version 7.1.1:

The main improvements are a significant speed increase for the DVD transcoding (approx. 30%-50% faster) and a new analyze method for better target disk size usage.
Various registry settings were added. For more information, please report to our support Knowledge Base.
Key combinations (no support available for this function)
F5 : Enable the OK button ignoring all size issues
F6 : Saves the currently selected percentages/titles/streams for this DVD
F7 : Load (if previously saved) settings for this DVD
Batch Processing functionnality. For more information, please report to our support Knowledge Base.

I haven't tested it just yet but I will and let you know the results.

    Nice.
Now that would make this process easier to deal with whilst there is a screaming baby/babe in the background.

posted this on the Pinnacle board
it's processing faster (but at what cost?)

you can change the default size from 4.32 to anything you want

it does recognise the missing MB's in my DVD's

    you can do batch processing

the reg setting of DVDVideoSaveBorder is interesting cos it looks like a black bar issue fix. (but why a reg setting?)

still hogs the PC's active window and pops up all the time after a process is finished and is easy to accidentally Cancel!!

    still undersizes big style

if you save the settings it doesn't remember the percentages and just does an automatic resize

didn't recognise the 'true' size of a known problematic DVD

    still only PDI output
    and also this

both my problem DVD's I uploaded now work fine with update

    good work

but it still not right on certain DVD's regarding the 'phantom MB's' but I cannot complain due to the disclaimer so I'll just make another to recreate it

I think it's cos not only the first PGC in a Titleset can be a 0.xx sec entry as the others can be too

dunno bowt the crashing during long blank sequences on the other so called problem DVD's but like I said both issues work just fine on my two problematic DVD's
    more feedback HERE

Nope, it still undersizes big style and if you do movie only with a 2.35:1 this is what you get

    Yep, that's the version

'Phantom Cell sets' ain't fixed , they have fixed it so that the DVD'S I sent them (cos they don't offer Copyrighted material support) worked with the new update, but it still don't recognise the 'true' size of the disc cos I tried a problem one HERE I had before and it's still the same, 6.77Gb until I automatic resize it !

the speed is faster but I'm doubting if the quality is the same until I do some tests cos I ain't bothered if it's 30-50% faster if the quality is gonna suffer. I'll post results as soon as I can

  12. I can't even install the patch ! it say can't find Instant Copy Installation or your COmputer... but it is installed.. Update 2 didn't have this problem.

I have reinstalled IC7, put Update 2, but Update 3 still say the same thing

  13. from Pinacle website:

When I try and run the 7.01 or 7.02 Instant Copy update i get the error: "Can not find Instant Copy. This update requires an installed full version of InstantCopy."

    Answer
You likely have Instant CD/DVD which includes Instant Copy as one of the features. The 7.01 or 7.02 patch update will not patch the Instant Copy that comes with this version. Most of what was fixed in 7.01 and 7.02 was included in Instant CD/DVD before it was reased.

Cool.. I pay for a software that can't be updated.. what a nice services by pinacle !

  15. the movie that came out to 3.2 g was originally cut with dvd shrink and was like 6.1 g before running through ic7. Should i select a larger target size (oversize it) or what? i did 2 other emovies (not using dvd shrink before compressing with ic7) and they cmae out to like 4.36g and 4.31g, so i think it may have something to do with dvd shrink...not sure though. i could really care less about the wasted space but the end result was blocky (not sure if this is because of the new "quicker" processing), i am going to burn a movie tonight that compressed to 4.31g and ill let u know how it turns out.

did you crop the end titles by any chance?

is it 2.35:1 ratio, as in does it contain black bars in the image?

if the answer is yes to one or both of these questions then that's your answer for undersizing

Pinnacle aint fixed the undersizing issue regarding letterbox movies but 1.85:1 movies seem to be a bit better

if you do a movie only you will get more undersizing than doing a 1:1 unless its a 'true' 4:3 DVD

  17. Where exactly can I download the update? I checked the pinacle site, but they just have the first update listed.

Nice eh? The translation for "likely" is "well we might have screwed something up" and for "Most" is "most of the stuff is probably the same just not the important stuff that matters."

I used to do lots of editing back in the day and used some Pinnacle products but the software side of things always sucked. When Matrox put out the RT2000 a few years back tons of us jumped ship, mostly due to bad software from Pinnacle.

  22. louthewiz, your original dics may have scratches or not ripped properly. Trying ripping them again.

If this not work reinstall IC7 from scratch.

Why don't you try DVD2-R, it takes a little longer but it may work with same sort of quality.

  23. i apllied the update a few days ago and the first couple runs i was REALLY close to the target. but then i tried enemy at the gates and everytime i am ending up with EXACTLY 3.74. it is really wierd i keep upping the size and still get 3.74. i am running it right now with an estimated size of 5 gig. the last one was 4.8 and still gave me 3.74 . i dont get it.
as far as the speed increase. i have not seen any. still taking my about an hour 30 for an avg movie. and i have a decent machine:
    p4 2.4
    512 pc2700
    ata100 HD w/8 mg cache

what kind of speed increases have you guys seen?
also, anyone having this size issue with the new patch?

after the first two tries and getting the EXACT same 3.74 output size. i uninstalled and reinstalled and applied patch again. i didnt remove the registry settings though. i will if i have to, i was hoping this would fix it.
    any ideas on this shiznit?

i never care about the sizing issue before, but antwone fisher is a 5.78 gig movie and i'm coming up with a 3.4 gig final movie which leads me to beleive the sizing issue is worse. what gives?

i don't think it's the black bar issue, but i dunno
