Can someone help me please when converting a AVI file to an mpeg2 compliant DVD some of the scenes seem to jitter but not if you play the file by itself oly after it's been encoded anyone got any suggestions?

probably not your problem but
I ripped a dvd to avi(using divx codec) and the avi was perfect but the mpeg encode was blocky and had flashing colours at times. I eventually discovered that this was because my dvd player was set to multi output rather than direct region output. If it is this problem set your dvd player to ntsc for an ntsc dvd and pal for a pal one.
This might also result if you are converting a film that is in one format to another, eg if ripping an ntsc film make sure it is set to ntsc in the source/format dialogue
hope this helps
