  2. First check to see whether or not the sound plays on your PC, if it does...this yes its the DVD player, if it doesnt...it something you did wrong during the authoring process....I do seem to remember reading on another site that that player will only play it in file mode...like when you play mp3s...it wont play miniDVDs correctly in DVD mode..so try swtiching to mp3 mode, and selecting the vob file...and then hit play, see what happens

  3. first there IS sound when i play on my computer. there is also sound when i play svcds (i made one of those too)

when i insert the dvd i get a folder menu instead of the menu screen. i go into video and select the VOB and it plays great video with no sound.

the svcd is cool and quality is ok, but the whole minidvd thing has more WOW factor.

    any other clues?

    thanks

  4. Sounds like something wrong when you burn..UNLESS, when you say you have sound on your PC with the vob file..that IS THE ONE BURNED to the disk...if that is..then I am of no clue, sounds like a plauyer issue....then my next advice would be to check out this forum dedicated to your player..

  5. Fred: I had the same problem youre having, until I found Dvdit by Sonic, wich has the option to make your minDVD with AC3 sound. That way the file plays OK ( sound and picture).. if I don't select AC3 sound, then it plays with no sound and the pictures stutters... hope this helps you, because it did for me.
Too bad not many authoring programs have this option of encoding your .wav sound to AC3.

  6. well he didnt mention what type of sound he has or was using..so I dont see the point,...I just assumed he was using and talking about AC3 sound...but I still would use DVDit by Sonic...cuz you can only use 2 channel AC3..not 5.1 channel...many other DVD apps out there allow for 5.1 channel.

  7. YES YES YES!!!

thanks.. the dvdit did the trick... have to encode the audio track in DD.

would be nice if this unit played DVD menus as well, but for $99....

    two thumbs up!!

  8. Well I guess I was partly wrong...although he never did say what app he was using, I guess that would have been helpful from the get go...I just assume he was using an app that uses Ac3 sound...I still WOULD NOT use DVDit though, cuz it only allows for 2 channel surround..try DVD Wise, DVD Maestro, or Scenarist...they all allow for 5.1 channel AC3 surround.
