  1. I have a 5 minute video edited in Adobe premeier. I captured the video from my Sony vx2000 using a Canopus DvStorm to keep everything digital and keep the quality.
My question is: I have a DVD-RW drive on the way. If I want to keep the highest quality video to burn to dvd, how would I go about exporting the video from Premiere? Which codec would I use to export out of Premiere before I put the video in TMPGEnc? What's the best/easiest way to get all of this acomplished? From DV video to dvd?

    Thanks for the help,
    Mike

Allows you to frame server from the time line to TMPG, or any Mpeg encoder.

You could just use the Adobe mpeg encode, or the Canopus Soft Mpeg. Should be in the export to options, and render options.

  3. Thanks for the link and advice! I never even knew that frameserve software existed. I was using Avisynth before. Do you have better luck or results with PluginPac FrameServer?
I can't seem to export 720x480 out of Premiere with the Canopus Soft Mpeg codec. I just get an error. Does Soft Mpeg not export at that frame size?

    Try Canopus' tuts

    http://www.canopus.com/US/support/support_tutorials.asp

there's a softmpeg tut at the bottom.

and this to make sure your settings are right

I haven't read good reviews on Soft Mpeg though (slow, not that great of a quality). TMPGenc may give you better results. I don't have personal experience with Soft Mpeg, so can't agree, nor deny the claims.

Do you have the DVStorm, or the Storm2? 'Cause the Strom2 does realtime mpeg encoding, and has a realtime hardware assisted mpeg re-encoder.

You may want to upgrade to Premiere 6.5. If you purchased on or after June 22, 2002 you can upgrade for $19.95. Check the Canopus site.

I don't use Adobe products anymore, I upgraded to Vegas Video In your case Adobe may be your only choice. But I use the server all the time with Vegas to encode with TMPG. The pluginpac adapter allows me to use all of Virtual Dubs filter in Vegas too.
