  1. hello all, thanks for any help...

    I am an old SVCD converter with that TMPEG and that Virtual Dub... Now I am starting to use Nero, to convert and burn!!!

    Using that Nero Express, I select the option SVCD, than pick a file but... the size is always 480 x 480... I want to burn as the original Divx size!?

    I havent burn still a long Divx file, as I know it wont fit in one medium (CD)... How do I cut a long file to burn in 2,3 or 4 CDs, with a good resolution?

    and the last doubt, about the menu; I canīt see the menu on my screen... I think I do every thing right, puting a background picture, modifying the footer text... but I canīt see on my TV Screen!

    Thanks a lot for any help... I hope I can help any one later!!! LexVib

  2. a few things there:

    1. I don't think anyone would recommend using Nero to 'convert', or encode. Use TMPGEnc (& Virtual Dub to frameserve depending on what you want to do to the original).

    2. The reason Nero is trying to change the 'size' or resolution, is to make a standards-compliant SVCD. If you want to keep the original resolution of your DivX (you don't tell us what that is) then you might have to 'turn off standard comliance'. I don't know if Nero Express can do this, and I very much doubt that the encoder in Nero can convert to MPEG2 at non-compliant resolutions.

    3. To split a longer movie across 2 or more CD's, use TMPGEnc's Source Range when you are encoding from the orginal - use the batch encoder to set up projects to create an mpg file for each CD (you'll have to work out how much of the movie will fit on each CD, which depends on what bitrate you use for SVCD).

    4. If you mean you can't see the menu you are creating in Nero on your TV when you put the disc in the DVD player, do you have Play Back Control (PBC), and is it enabled? I'm not sure about SVCD's, but PBC needs to be on for VCD menus to work.

    Overall, what I'd recommend is using TMPGEnc to encode your DivX into separate mpg files for each (S)VCD, then using Nero to burn the discs.

    I would stick to the compliant templates, unless you're sure your DVD player will handle odd resolutions (and you don't want to be able to play the disc on any other players).

    I hope that helps!

    Read the guides on avi->(S)VCD.

    cheers,

    Personally, I agree for a change !

    Use Nero for what it's good at - burning CD and DVD

    There are programs that do specific tasks for a reason, the all-in-ones try very hard to achieve everything, but rarely manage it all without getting way too bloated, which leads to more problems, and also can't concentrate on the main task

    I prefer other encoders, but TMPGenc and VirtualDub have very good support, and plenty of people willing to help with any areas of these two programs, that must say something ??
