What is better? Pioneer 105 or plextor 504A?
(not + or - related, but affidability and reliability related)

Eeeeej,
the Pioneer A05 is the only dvd-burner I own, and for me it's perfect. I can get DVD-R's at very low prices and they play on all the stand-alones I've tested so far (30+)...Very stable burner, more then 500 dvd's copied so far.
...next month we will have the Pioneer A06 which supports both DVD-R and DVD+R so if you want to do it right...pay the 70 bucks more for the A06!!

GOOD LUCK,

Personal Compurter World (UK magazine) this month (July 2003) have a review of many DVD writers. The review may be on their website (pcw.co.uk) if you don't feel like buying it.
The NEC Multispin ND-1100 came out on top. -
How much is the Pioneer you're looking at?
Have seen a few places still sell them for £185, whereas others are down to £145. Make sure you look around first, I can definately reccomend www.blankdiscshop.co.uk. -
I have been testing all these burner for ther past 6 weeks and the best so far for the money is the plextor hands down. None of the company program that come with the units are very good but all the free things out there work on most od them. Foumd one big problem with most of the rest is long boot up for some reason not sure yet will keep on testing.
HAVE A GREAT DAY -
I buyed a pioneer A05U for 259.90 eur
(what about the U in a05U, is on a stickers on previous a05 stamp on manual?)
I will try it this week
thanks guys! -
Hi,
Go for the pioneer drive. I happen to own one my self and what i find a nice thing about the pioneer drive is.... it's faster. Yes indeed. When tested the pioneer does 4.1 - 4.2 speed when burning dvd's.
I know it's not much, but it just those little extras that make it worth while.

I used my new pioneer a05u this week and i confirm that is a very good player.
I copied a dvd 5 with dvd decripter (with win98) a 2x (dvd-rw pioneer)without problem and my player played it very fine.
Then I shrinked a title on a dvd 9, and then burned it with nero, with no particular setting at 4x (dvd-r pioneer) . It also played very fine on my player (philips 711, very very happy with it).
