    My recommendation is use FitCD (found in the tools section).

    Not only does it give good bitrate calculations, it calculates the resizing for you and creates an AVISynth script if you want to use one too.

    I did loads of duff encodes when i started trying to get the A/R correct. FitCD simplifies that no end.

    If you are going to use the script with CCE, you need to resample the audio (check box) and I also add
    Code:
    ConverttoYUY2()
    after the
    Code:
    avisource(....
    line in the script.

  3. If you want to use TMPGenc it's pretty easy.

    1) Load your favorite TMPGenc template (in this case SVCD)

    2) Load your video/audio source

    3) Click on Settings, then click on the advance tab.

    4) Under "source aspect ratio" choose "1:1 (VGA)". ALL PC video has a DAR of 1:1.

    5) Under "Video Arrange Method" choose "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)"

    6) Encode

    TMPGenc will then center the video, giving you full width video, and letterbox it as necessary to perserve the source aspect ratio.
