Using the process as outlined in the excellent guides previously posted, using DVD decrpyter and DVD2One/DVDshrink/instant Copy how to I back-up a double sided DVD to a single sided 4.7Gb? In other words how do I join the two parts into one before shrinking.

    many thanks

By double sided, do you mean a DVD-9 or a DVD that comes on 2 disks ???

If its a DVD-9, then use the guides

Personally, I'd use the guide that covers the copy using :

    DVDDecryptor
    DVD2One
    Copy2DVD

Thats all you need to copy ANY single DVD, including all menus and features, weather its a DVD-9 or a DVD-5

If its a DVD-5, then it will be better quality than a DVD-9, as it has to squeeze what is essentially 2 DVD's onto one

If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the guide that covers the difference between DVD-5 and DVD-9 formats. This is what I assume you mean by a double DVD

  3. I think he is talking about a double-sided DVD (Goodfellas is an example) that is acutally a "flipper." It is basically a double-sided DVD-5 (which some refer to as a DVD-10).

You have to end up renaming the VOBs on the second side to match the naming convention of the VOBs on the first side.

Then re-create the VOB IDs using IFOEdit. There is a guide somewhere in here, but I was unable to locate it in the 2 seconds I looked. Search the guides for DVD-10.
