Sorry if this a bit of a noob question but I'm having trouble playing svcds on my dvd-rom.

The playback is jerky and the dvd drive sounds like it working overtime. I have no trouble though if I extract the mpg and play that (although obviously I would prefer to play from cd to save hd space)

    Thanks

Check that DMA is enabled on your DVD-ROM drive. What OS are you running? What DVD Player software are you running?

    Source, as in "DVD", "AVI"...
Encoding method as in "What encoder?" "Which settings?" "What bit rates?" "How did you burn?" "What media used?"
To me, that sounds like a bad burn (the dvd drive sounds like it working overtime.)
Try burning at lowest speed (2-4x) and see if that helps.
