Hi,
I have this movie....it's an avi I ran program tests to make sure it was an avi and it is.
Seems to play properly when I open it with media player or virtual dub.
But when I go convert it to mpeg....it gives me an mpeg with blue lines running through it and distorts the image and color.
I have tried about four programs that do avi to mpeg: tmpgenc, dvd2avi, avi2mpg, virtualdub and always got the same bad mpeg file out. Can someone please help me I have never seen this kind of problem before with an avi that plays properly but doesnt convert properly to mpeg.

In my experiences it would seem that you don't have the right codec.
.AVI could be any number of different formats.....I don't know how many but I've heard mention of like 50 or 60.....maybe more.
You have to determine which it is (such as divx) and get the right codec. You need GSPOT (or maybe AVIcodec) to determine which codec you need. Download the right codec, install, restart if necessary, and you should be golden!
Good luck.

I tried that...I ran gspot and it gave me this:
CODEC
4CC: DIV3/DIV4 NAME: Divx3 Fast Motion
And in the stat it even says:
4 compatible codecs installed
Video Path: AVI SPLITTER -> DivX Decoder Filter
So I am figuring it is something else...because I have the newest DivX 5.02
and that should support all that.thanks
