  1. Hi, I need assistance, please...

I have an AVI file that won't open in TMPGEnc and haven't been able to find a solution for it from old posts and my own effort --- Anyway, basically TMPGEnc gives the typical "cannot open...unsupported" message when I try to open this file. It also does not open in Movie Factory. The file claims to be an AVI when I check it's properties but "AVIcodec" gives the following information regarding it: "...type ASF, one audio stream"

I have the Nimo Codec Pack installed and was able to capture the audio on the file with Goldwave but it's not opening for me to convert. Also the file does NOT open with the "ASFTools" program either.

    Any suggestions? I'd appreciate them...

AVI is only a wrapper ... there are about 40-50 types of avi files , use gspot to see what it might be , some avi files can only be opened if you have a specific hardware card ..

  3. Well, I can open the file outside of TMPG just fine using Windows Media Player --- and I've used Gspot with little success (unless I'm not understanding something) as I get a bunch of unsupported mess.

    Any ideas?

go into the vfapi priority settings in tmpgenc , in there you will see 2 avi readers (at least) , raise the opendml one to +3 and the other one to 0 . if this doesnt work -- reverse the above ..
