Im having bit of a problem here, i havent be able to find a guide to help me with my problem so here goes..... i want to make a cdvd from divx (ac3) when i author it in ifoedit' all i get is noise instead of the audio track!!! this is what im doing.... 'vdub' -> extract ac3 audio file
'tmpgenc' -> encode divx to m2v author in 'ifoedit' but the vob file it creates just has noise instead of audio track
i can get it to work properly if i transcode the original ac3 that came with the divx file to wav or mp2/mpa file or if i re-encode back to ac3 format using 'besweet' the reason i dont wanna use these formats is because the mp2 and (re-encoded) ac3 files are 2x larger then the original ac3 file and wave files are huge and will end up make the final vob file twice the size

if any can help or give me a link to a guide that can help that would be great

did you fix the ac3 after you used virtualdub?? if not then use ac3fix or beslice to fix it. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=158624&highlight=ac3fix

yeap i have already fix the ac3 file
this is step by step what im doing (or trying to do)

    AUDIO

Divx w/ ac3 audio size is 1.4 gb
~used vdub to cut the movie in to 3 parts (cd 1- 3) i used direct stream copy for both audio and video
~i took the first part (blahblah_cd1.avi) size is 451 mb i used vdub again to copy about 2 minutes of the movie for testing (test1.avi 46.4mb) used divfix and vdub to scan for error (no errors found) , used vdub to extract ac3 audio (direct stream copy -> save wav)
    now i have 2 files test1.avi(46.4mb) and test1.ac3 which is 7.27 mb
~ran ac3fix to fix any error vdub made OKAY DONE WITH AUDIO (i think)

    VIDEO

used tpmgenc to re-encode the divx (test1.avi) to m2v file the setting are 720x480 2000 kbits/sec 23.970 fps -> 10 minutes later i have test1.m2v (75.7 mb) opened video file in wmp and works great
    VIDEO DONE!

    authoring new dvd

used 'ifoedit' open test1.m2v and test1.ac3 and created the vob file (85.1 mb)and a few another files....... played vob in windvd to make sure it worked! there is no sound just noise i thought maybe it was because i didnt have the right codecs installed or something so i burned it onto a cdrw hoping it would work in my stand alone player, but nope! still no sound just noise !!!! arrgggg! i even tried the get vts sectors (dont really know what it does) but it didnt fix anything

    PART2 :P

    now i have -
    test1.avi 46 meg
    test1.m2v 75 meg
    test1.ac3 7 meg

if i take the ac3 file and transcode to *.mp2/mpa format the file size becomes 14.5 (test1.mpa) or if i transcode it to wav format (58.1 meg)
i have tried to rencode the wav file back to ac3 format but the size goes to 14.5 megs instead of 7 megs which was the original size i started with
BUT if i use the mpa/wav or new ac3(14meg) as the audio source when i author the dvd i get sound but the vob file size increases too

vob (with orginal ac3) 85 meg <- just noise
    vob (with mpa/new ac3) 92.2 megs <-sound workds
vob (with wave) 137 megs <- sound works

since im putting this on a cd-r instead of a dvd-r i need to keep the files as small as possible

well thats it! any further help would be great
