  1. I just downloaded the CCE Basic TRIAL VERSION, but it's not working. Can anyone giving me an easy guide on how to use. I tried using the "foolproof" one on this site, but CCE says the file I open is not an ECL for the CCE Basic Trial Version. And yes, I have used TMPGenc and my trial is up. So all HELP IS APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Hello

Sorry I can't help you otherthan to say that CCE is a pain-in-the ass to use. I tried it years ago (the full CCE SP 2.5 version) and TMPGEnc Pro is SO much easier not to mention that many encoding guides give specific "how-to" with TMPGEnc without a word about CCE.

I've heard that TMPGEnc gives better quality with VCD and SVCD whereas CCE can give better quality with DVD resolutions and bitrates. However most people will tell you that you can't really SEE a difference when using TMPGEnc vs CCE for high bitrate DVD encoding.

The only real drawback I can see with TMPGEnc is that it is SLOWER than CCE. However most people usually compre TMPGEnc Pro with CCE SP 2.5 or the new 2.66 version. I've never heard much about the Basic version of CCE. So I don't know if it shares the some benefits and faults of the CCE SP.

    P.S.
The doom9 website also has a guide (if not guides) on how to use CCE so you might want to try there as well.

  3. Thanks for replying, but I've used tmpgenc and I've been doing research and most say they like cce better, so I'm on a mission to try to figure this software out, I'm just wondering if the trial version even has mpeg2 capabilities. I looked on doom 9, and they didn't have what I wanted, which is turning a avi, divx, mpg, ect. , into an svcd.
Anyone else have a guide or suggestion??

instead of using file open as you are doing , try right clicking in the main window and use "add" or drop your file in to that big old window ..

now double click the file name and set up your settings .

Please don't post conversion in this forum(vcd/svcd authoring). I'm moving this one.
