  1. I finally got my firewire card installed and am ready to do some capturing. I want to eventually move my video to dvdr with the least amount of loss from the original. Any recommendations on capture program and file type to export to? I will in the end be using Maestro to author the dvd, so the file has to be compatible with that. Should I export to mpeg2, avi or mpeg1?

  2. Ok, from what i've read it seems that dv-avi seems to be the best format, but when I tried importing the avi into Maestro it comes up with a media detection error. Can anyone recommend some settings that will allow maestro to accept an avi? Or does Maestro even accept avi format??

I never used Maestro, but I've used Ulead DVD Workshop and DVDlab.
    Here's what I do.
    1 Capture DV AVI
2 Edit the AVI with Premeire (but you can use any video editor)
3 Output the edited video to DVD 720x480 - CBR 8000 kbps. 384 kbps Mpeg audio.
4 Import the Mpeg-2 file into DVD authering program and create DVD files.
5 Burn DVD with Nero or RecordNow Max

I usually get a little over an hour video per dvd.

    Hope that helps.
