I'm trying to convert some video tapes to DVDs. When i just capture the tapes to .avi files and then use premiere to encode them to mpgs then use IFOedit to make the VOB files, everything goes well, but the video looks interlaced and low quality.
When I use AVIsynth and VirtualDub to post process the .avi files, they look much better, but then I encode them to mpgs and create the VOBs the same way, then video becomes glitchy. I get it breaking up into large blocks, or an occasional stripe for an instant, and the sound sometimes goes out of sync.
I tried turning the bitrate down from 8000 to 6000 in the premiere encoder, but I still get the same results. My equipment is an athlon 2400+ with 512 MB ram, Pyro A/V link capture box, and sony drx500ulx DVD writer.
Any advice is appreciated. It is frustrating to spend hours encoding something to have it come out glitchy.
Thanks
