I don't know if this is the proper place to ask this, so I'm sorry if it is not. My question is this, I use studio 7.0 and Microsoft movie make as editing tools and Tmpgenc+ as my mpeg encoder. When I make a .AVI in studio, I can import it into movie maker without a problem. If I make a .AVI in movie maker, it will not open in studio unless I run it through Tmpgenc and output to .AVI is there something I need to do to studio to make it open .AVI directly from movie maker without the extra Tpmgenc step?
Or is Studio just that picky. I have also used Priemere and had no problem opening a .AVI created from theie and opening in studio.
    Any help is welcome.

are you sure you are creating .avi files out of Movie Maker? I thought the default format was .wmv

check your compression settings when you save your .avi - make sure you are saving it in a format that Studio can import...

Yes it is a .AVI but what I found out is that studio doesn't like a type1 DV .AVI I'm trying to find out if this is the default type of .AVI that movie maker creates. If it is then that explains my problem. I'll post what I find.

I do believe that movie maker does make a type 1 DV .AVI which pinnacle studio 7.0 doe not accept. My only other option so far is to make the .AVI in movie maker and then take it to Tmpgenc and output to a .AVI which pinnacle studio 7.0 will open. But it's alot of work just for 1 or 2 effects that studio doesn't offer. I'm still searching for a way to get a ken burns effect on stills in studio. This effect is available in movie maker.
    The Search goes on.

Not a solution to your problem, but perhaps a good workaround is to download the Ulead DV converter which converts DV type 1 to DV type 2.

WeBe, thank you for the tip. This does work. Works well if I only use movie maker to use certain effects to one photo at a time then run them through coverter and import into studio. Thanks again.
