I know that I have seen a few threads on this subject but I didn't pay much attention because up until now, I had never encountered an xvid with AC3 audio. I used nandub to merge a couple of Xvids(700MB each) The resulting appended avi plays nicely with no sync. issues. Then I attempted to extract the wave and the result was a 300MB file full of static when I tried to play it.
I was following the guide over at doom9 which indicated that although I have extracted an AC3, it still has a wav header and needs to be fixed. I dropped my audio file onto besliced but instead of fixing the file, besliced pops up a blank note pad window. Would some please direct me to a guide or a thread that may have already dealt with this problem.

    Thanks in advance,

I use Goldwave to extract when I have AC3, just load the avi and save. Here's a guide for a little more complicated way using Vdub and either headac3he or ac3tool: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=91588

I do all my appending/joining after converting the audio to wav and reloading that back into the original avi's.

Thanks for the tip zip. By the way how do you recall so many useful threads? Are you saving them to a website or a links page. Whats your secret for the fantastic ability to recall what you have learned. I need a way besides the forum search to gather info at a glance.
Do you mean that you do your appending and joining after you convert to audio to AC3?

Just load the movie into Goldwave then click "file" and "save as".....itll save out the WAV...much easier than headache etc.

In Goldwave just load your Avi then save, that's it.

I save all my links as favourites in my browser, easy to pull them up later.

I think you can join the files then extract the wav audio after.
