Whenever I use a writing program or software, my LG writer is referred to as:

    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4020B

Now I have the DVD-RAM driver installed, I have TWO of them, with no information explaining which is which!

Is it possible to alter the name to something more memorable to myself, by way of REGEDIT, or is the information stored in the actual firmware?

I did a registry search for HL-DT-ST and found quite a number of keys, mainly in CloneCD and Nero, but I didn't want to change any or all without first seeing if anyone else had done so.

Thanks, great forum and great participants.

PS Does anyone know what the letters mean?

  2. no you can't rename it.. it's strange but:

For recording, use the second one

For Reading DVD-R(W) it will be the first one

For Reading Writing DVD-RAM it will be the Second one

after you get used too, it's not that confusing. Config Nero to burn on the "second" drive and the rest will be easy
