I have heard that using lables on dvd-r's can cause them not to play on dvd players because of a weight issueis this true ? as i like the look of a labels dvd (seems more profesonal and finalized)

There are alot of posts on this issue here. I myself thought they were silly, what do you mean your movies skip? I don't have any problems. UNTIL the dreaded day I did have one skip on me, I ruined the disc trying to remove the label so I remade the video and did everything the same and it played fine. I agree they look alot better but if you are looking for "Professional" results, playing without a glitch in more professional than how the disc looks in it's case. I won't use them anymore. Just my 2 cents. Do a search for "sticky labels" and I know you will find all the other posts on this. Good luck
