  1. Hello all, i know that this is question is most definetely answered somewhere, hopefully you can show me where or just answer it for me.

I captured a 2 hour show through my tv tuner (AIW 8500DV). IT is a 7 something GB file. I captured as the highest quality MPEG 2 and now i am trying to use SONY'S CLICK TO DVD SOFTWARE to burn it. I havent worked much with MPEG 2 but i am very knowledgable editting AVI.

Anyways i obviously want to edit this file down to a small enough file (im going to first try and take out commercials and then see if it is a small enough file.) IF not then i will split the clip into two files and burn to two discs.

NOw for the problem. My software Click to DVD opens the file ok and so forth. Then i thought i would be able to do some basic splitting using that software then burn to the discs. Although when i try to divide it says the software cannot edit MPEG 2 files.

So that brings me to the point. Should i just open this file in one of the basic editting apps that i have and then edit and export and start with my burning or what should i do.

P.S. WHy whenever i try to view large video clips off my harddrive using Media player or so forth it lags and is out of sync.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Goto the tools section on this site and download TMPGEnc plus(need the plus version for mpg2's)

Use one of the guides on the left if you don't know anything about TMPGEnc.

Here's what I'd suggest. Use the TMPGEnc wizard and pcik dvd, import your movie click next, click 'source range' and edit out all the commercials. click next and lower the bitrate til it says the file is under 4.36gb's and let it run(it will prolly take several hours or longer(if you have an old computer) for it to finish. But when it does finish you'll have an mpg2 file that is dvd-complatiable and will fit on a single dvd.

Tmpgenc also has mpg tools that will allow you to split or edit it without re-encoding. So that's also an option

I think you have like a 14 day trial perido with the software then its like 50 bucks if you like it
