I just tried DVD2DVD-R for the first time yesterday
really nice program..
this is what i did:
ripped the DVD with DVD Decrypter
Used DVD2DVD-R to make the main-movie less than 4.37 GB
I also stripped out the Swedish 5.1 Track but
Choose 4-Pass encoding, because the movie is really long and i wanted to get all quality i could out of it.
DVD2DVD-R worked for an 12h and then produced an nice set with all the vob, bup and ifo files
I tested the movie by loading the ifo file in Power DVD, everything worked fine, quality really good too..
So i made an image file with imagetool, burned with dvd decrypter and thougt everythink was fine.. ..and it was, in power DVD
but when i took the disc to my PS2 to check it, there was no sound, the movie played fine, but no sound
I dontät have a clue what could be wrong..
..made all my other movies with DVD-Shrink and all have worked flawless in my PS2, but this movie didn't
anyone who have had the same problem when using DVD2DVD-R or some other program?
or do you know of a solution?
All help or ideas welcome!

first, it sounds like your going through too many steps to accomplish a backup. Also, if you are reencoding a movie, there is no reason to later make an image of it. Just burn a compliant DVD. If you are "PAL" then it really is simple as IFOEdit is auto authored in DVD2DVDR.
Another piece of advice is that you might want to do a little research on CCE, as 4 passes can potentially make the output a lesser quality in certain situations. Every case is different and everyone has their own views, but I've never done more then a 2 pass VBR, and usually do a 1 pass, unless there is a lot of action in the movie. Each and every single time, I can't tell the difference between the original and the backup and I pay attention to the most minor of details, so that say alot.
To answer your question, I have a feeling there is an issue with the "default" sound track with HPCOS. You said you deleted the Swedish 5.1 audio track...i'm not sure where you live but somehow you may of had the sound default to a setting..possibly even off...and you need to hit the "audio" button on your dvd player to get to the audio track you want to play. PS2 may not have that option...try it in a regular standalone and see if that works. I know I had a couple of movies where I played them and no sound came out and that is what I did...and it worked perfectly. -
To many steps.. ..hmm maybe :P
but i always make an Image file before burning, everything has run smoothly on standalones when i have done this, so i will keep doing it.
4-pass encoding would give a worse resault than 2-pass, sounds strange doesn't it? But ok, it took a little too long time with my 1333 Mhz so maybe i stick to 2-pass in the future, untill i get my new 2.8 Ghz =P
I will try it in regularstandalone later today, there is a audi button on the ps2, to change betwen the languages, but it won't work, must be something that DVD2DVD-R did wrong when stripping out the swedish languauge, but it is strange since the english was the first language so it shouldnt be a problem, ahh strange it is anyway..
thanx for your help
