Hi, I was hoping I could hear from someone who had maybe seen this problem before...
With some old tapes, when a light appears on the screen, it bleeds to other areas of the screen, sometimes to the point where the screen is almost completely white. Adjusting brightness, contrast, and saturation through the software doesn’t really help.

I'm working with a composite signal from a vcr to a Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP, and with old VHS videos, which are copies of old homemade 8mm videos (I think this rules out Macrovision as a cause). The quality obviously isn't very good to begin with, but there’s a substantial difference in quality between TV playback and PC playback -- on TV, areas around the light become brighter, but not completely white like they do on my PC. The problem occurs with all the software I’ve tried (Ulead, Winfast PVR, AVI_IO, VirtualDub), and it shows up in the video input, whether or not capturing is occuring. I’ve also tried working with some newer 8mm videotapes, without converting VHS, and I have no problems with these.

I have seen some threads on this forum mention this problem, but I haven't found one with a solution that I can try (I found one software fix which seemed to only apply to an Asus card). I’ve experimented with a few VirtualDub filters, and none of them seem to really help. I’m wondering if maybe I should try a different capture card, or maybe boost the signal into my card somehow (with a limited budget), or maybe I’m just outta luck.
Thanks!
