  1. I have tried everything I know to do, but I simply cannot play back a FULL DVD-encoded AVI file using a 2400 bit rate with the Divx encoder, and using any of my AVI players (Divx, MediaPlayer 8.1, QT, ATI, etc.). Anyone know why? If I choose a couple of segments of the movie, I can encode and play them back fine. I'm using XP Pro with NTFS, the movie is Apoll13, and my final AVI file size is just over 2GB, about 2.1Gb. I really don't want to bust the AVI up into segments, so does anyone out there know a fix for this? I used Smartripper to get it to the HD, then DVDX to encode the AVI using the DIVX 5.05 codec (also tried 5.03) with the same results. I don't want to burn to another DVD, VCD, etc., only want to run the movie from the HD.

I always get some type of file error when trying to open the AVI in any of the players.

    Help!

    Thanks again!

Adjust your bitrate to be under 2 GB. Are you sure your NTFS?

And what do you mena doesn't play, won't load, bad play, can't see it?

  3. I'll try lowering the bitrate, but seems like I lose a little too much qualtiy by qoing under 2mb/sec.

None of the players that I try to use to play the AVI file will open the file.

For instance, if I use the Divx player, I get this error:

    "This file canont be opened
    StreamSourceFilter:eekFromBeginning(0) out of
    readLimit Range: -1"

Using MS MediaPlayer 8, I get this error:

    "ClassFactory cannot supply requested class"

ATI and QT both give me a generic "unable to open file" -type of error.

I'm not running NTFS on the system drives, but only on the drive that I store the movie onto which is a 200GB Maxtor.

Thanks again for any help anyone can offer. Is there a limit to how big an AVI can be?

  4. have you tried other DivX files or just the same one? Could be the file itself...

i have noticed that with the new divx (5.03 and up) if the file is over 2 GB, it will not play in any player except for zoomplayer. Doesn't matter if the Hard Drive is NTFS or FAT 32, or if you are using Windows ME, XP, 2000, 98 SE, 95.

Don't what it is but it will not play.
