  1. I have a james taylor dvd that I want to isolate the audio from so that I can burn it on a cd.

I followed the directions on the FAQ which says:
"How can I convert the DVD audio to an audio CD or a wav file?
First you need to RIP the movie to the HD which require between 4-8 GB of freespace, read step 1a-1c in sefys dvdrip guide here how to that. Then you follow step 2a-2c but be sure to select under Audio->48khz -> 44 khz to High in DVD2AVI before you enter step 2b. And after that you will have a .wav file for the entire dvd movie, for example in sefys dvdtovcd see step 3: History of the world AC3 T01 44khz.wav. Last you can burn the WAV file with any audio burning tool and you have an Audio CD of the DVD but you probably need to cut it fit on a Audio CD, therefore use any audio tool like Cool Edit."

The instructions about extracting DVD is on http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdtovcd.htm#1

Well I tried this several times and wound up with a video that looked good (using preview in DVD2AVI) but the audio had a ton of static (so much that the music was not audable, only heard static). So in essence, I was unsuccessful. I really want to isolate this music. Can someone please, please help me out.

Please respond to me via email at jimbo913@msn.com

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Since you only want the Audio part of the DVD, why not use Smart Ripper - Stream Processing and just select teh audio track you want without the Video Track, and it will create for you a WAV file, or you can use other AC3 to WAV, or ReMPEG2 to demuplex the VOB and get your AC3/WAV file out of it.

  3. lol...

I found this post when looking for myself on Yahoo.

I did figure out how to do this. Nowadays, I just use DVDAudioExtractor for tasks like this.

I do remember what a pain this used to be back then in 2001. Used to have to extract the wav, then split the wav into the tracks you wanted. Now it is all done for you. It took like 3 days to get the James Taylor CD created in 2001 and 20 minutes to do the same task on U2's Live from Slane Castle a few months ago.

  4. you will have to demuplex like Safy says with a program like TMPG if its Mp2 or a sound file it supports If its DD 2.0 then use MPEG2VCR if its 5.1 there are other programs that can do it but I do not use any of those.

Use AC3Tool, it will rip the AC3 audio, and then you can convert the AC3 audio to WAV or MP3 and downmix down to mono, stereo, surround or 5.1 audio

Its all in one program, it may not be the nicest to use the first time, but its totally free, and does actually work, unlike some commercial attempts I've used

Have a look at my guide, it may make things easier if you've never used it before

  6. I appreciate your guys help, but look at the date of the original post... over three years ago.

I really just found that on Yahoo. I have since made a great deal of audio extractions using DVDAudioExtractor, which is hands down the best tool to use for my tasks.

    Thanks again though.
