  1. I know this has been asked a lot of times, but most of my searching the results was cards with tuners. I will be inputting from my satellite receiver via s-video, so do need a tuner. I currently have the Xcapture card and have been unable to make it work right.

So which capture card without a tuner do ya'll recommend? I do not mind paying a little more if the card works easier and has better PQ and audio. I also think it should have its own software with it for making captures.

Best? Try a MATROX product. Matrox.com
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  4. I think it is mainly the Xcapture card that is causing the problems. Either that or the software. I have tried several of the most popular software and I have yet to get a capture that I would keep. It either has bad PQ or either bad sound or no sound. I have and am still trying AMCAP, VitualVCR, Flyds, SVCDcorder and iuvcr. The live picture and audio is pretty good, but the recordings suck.

Another thing that bugs me about the Xcapture is having to reset the input everytime I turn the computer on.

Try the Canopus ADVC-100. Its the top user rated capture device on this site. Its also a non-tuner.

  10. One question about the Canopus cards. I do not have anything that has firewire. I will be inputing from my satellite receiver via s-video.

Will this card still work with my setup?

The ADVC-50 is similar to the ADVC-100 but is internal (and I don't think it has the analog video-out capability.) Its a PCI card and not firewire so it should work with your setup.
