  1. I've been trying to copy a VCD (for my own personal use, of course) using Nero. I've tried every possible means: burning CD to CD (picture came out really bad, pictures were jerky, sound was squeaky. Burnt it at 4X), transfering the data from VCD to hard disk, then burning it as a data CD (I popped it into the player, the VCD ran, counter was moving, just no image or sound, just a blue screen and silence).

The VCD comes in a set of 3 CDs, I'd copied the other 2 CD to CD at 12X without any problems. I've had problems with just this one CD.

Would be greatly appreciative if someone could provide me with some assistance! Cheers!

  2. You might try slowing the read speed down on Nero and write speed down. I've backup playstation games that my kids have. I usually don't use Nero for that purpose I used CloneCd on the playstation games. I read and write at 1x. I've tried higher speeds and I usually get problems. I don't understand why speed makes a difference with playstation but it does. Maybe this might make a difference in your case.

  3. It looks like you have a problematic disc. You can try copying the DAT file inside the MPEGAV directory to your hard disk. Then run VCD Gear to convert the DAT file to MPG. Finally, use Nero to create the VCD. Ensure that you are creating a VCD and not a DATA CD since a VCD has additional directories for control information while a DATA CD does not have this.

  4. I tried copying the .dat file and then creating VCD from it, but the effect was the same- jerky images, squeaky sound. I've also tried burning it at 1X! Still didn't work. I'm now thinking if I should try it with another VCD of the same title. Sigh!
