Yeah, this is fairly straightforward. You've got 2 files that you want to join.
But to join (concatenate), both files have to be nearly identical in terms of settings.

You have to have be the same:
    Codec (MPG1 + MPG1 vs. MPG1 + MPG2)
    Frame size (720x480 + 720x480 vs. 720x480 + 352x480)
    Frame rate (29.97 + 29.97 vs. 29.97 + 25)
    # of streams (1Vid/1Aud + 1Vid/1Aud vs. 1Vid/1Aud + 1Vid/2Aud)
    Audio stream type (mp2 + mp2 vs. mp2 + ac3)

What can be different, you might ask?
    1. Bitrate
    2. GOP lengths
    3. Stereo/Mono/Dual settings (not so sure about this one)
    4. If you're careful, Progressive/Interlace Flags

    maybe others.

If your streams aren't the same, you'll have to demux, re-convert/transcode to the right type, remux and then join.

    HTH,
    Scott
