  1. The specs on this camera says analog to digital pass through
which my understanding would be you can capture analog and bypass a mini dv tape and go directly to your computer

Curious if anyone else has purchased this camera or another sony dv with the same feature How do you input analog and output via fire wire at the same time .

It has analog input/output and usb and firewire input or output

The manual does ot give any instructions on passthrough only on recording on dv tape from analog

  2. Sorry for that post, The manual does have a tiny half page in the way back of the manual on how to do it with no cross reference from the index

  3. It's not very hard. You plug the analog cable to the camcorder. You plug the camcorder to your computer's firewire port with a firewire cable (if you don't have a firewire port on your computer, you should get one). You must then enable DV out from the camcorder's menu. You can capture with a program such as DVapp or DVIO (freeware programs). Make sure that the camcorder does not have a tape in it.

Be under no illusion, anolgue passthrough is by far the best option when capturing anologue footage.
