  1. Hi, i am trying to convert an AVI video using the following guide:

DiVX (AVI) to (S)VCD using DVD2SVCD:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php

Below is the information about my source:

    576x304 23.976fps

    XviD MPEG-4 Codec

    Audio Stream

having completed al the necassary stages when using VirtualDub (except e) as i am allowing dvd2svcd to split the movie) i go to "File....Save as AVI"- however, when i try to save the new file i get the following error:

"no audio decompressor could be found to decrompress the source audio format"

what is the problem- presumably it is a software prob rather than my avi source? i have tried 2 reinstall virtualdub but this doesn't help! Any ideas anyone? thanks in advance

I think its AC3 audio thats causing ur problem..

select no audio on Vdub, download BeSweet and convert the audio to MP2 format.. Multiplex with TMPgenc when ur done encoding the video in MPEg

  4. m8, i have tried to use besweet but i couldn't get it to open up the source file?! i supid thing i know but i couldn't work it out lol!

i also tried a couple of different avi files (both different) and the same error in virtualdub.

do you know how i can fix this problem in a more long term manner (as mixing the audio with tmpeg would take ages!)? perhaps a suitable alternative to virtualdub???

    cheers!!!

It does look like it's an AC3 audio, so follow one of the guides for converting AC3.

The way I do it is to open the AVI with GoldWave and save as a WAV. You can then point Vdub to this WAV (under "audio->WAV audio" from the menu).

  8. Virtual dub save wav on direct processing mode.

Call file audio.ac3, vdub will add.wav at the end, use explorer to remove the .wav extension so that you are left with a file audio.ac3

    Open headac3he (from tools menu)

Insert audio.ac3, resample to 44100 once completed open tmpgenc use original video with the file that you have just created.

Any probs bash me a private message 8)
