  1. i was wondering if there is a way other than tmpgenc to convert mpeg1 to mpeg 2

    i have a 800mb ntsc vcd file which i want to create a 800mb pal svcd from... is this possible

    i know it is possible with tmpgenc, but then the file size will become huge and i dont want the movie on 2 or more cd's....

    can anyone help??

    You'll never get good results converting mpg1 to mpg2. You really need to start from the original and convert directly to mpg2.

    Going from a lower resolution to a higher one gives poor results. Also, it seems that you want to keep the same file size which means the bitrate for your SVCD will have to be the same as the VCD. SVCD at VCD bitrates will also be very poor. Due to it's higher resolution, SVCD demands twice the bitrate as VCD to look good. So, bad + bad = very bad. I wouldn't even bother trying.

  5. You can do it in tmpgenc but as everyone has said your quality will be poor
