  1. i hope someone can help me with this cos its doing my head in.

ok i use tmpgenc to encode my mpegs
either ripped dvds or captures thru my digicamcorder.

ive done it loads of times with success but recently every time i use tmpgenc i get between 50 & 75% thru and my pc turns off

i mean my monitor goes off, lights on pc tower stay on but with no response but when i turn off at mains let it cool down it comes back on ok & i try again with same result.
now it doesnt turn off every time just most of the time.
ive used differnet versions of tmpgenc
    probs started on v 011.26.110
then updated to 25.88.44.152 worked fine with no problems
that demo ran out so now using
tmpgenc plus 2.5 & its done 2 short mpegs & shut down on 2 as well

ive change the memory & also formatted but problems still keep arising
    any ideas anyone
    cheers

  2. It could be that your CPU is overheating? Check on your system BIOS if it is set to shutdown automatically on a certain CPU temperature. My P3 600Mhz used to sound a warning bell halfway through encoding with TMPGEnc. I raised the threshold temperature for the alarm and haven't heard it since (well, maybe because now I use the 2.4 Ghz )

TMPGEnc seems to use CPU very heavily.

Any encoder uses the CPU intensively.

You've likely got a hardware problem either CPU, ram or power supply. Try swapping out parts if possible to isolate the problem.
