  1. Hello all.
I would like to install in my PC a codec pack for DivX and Xvid. But there are many packs like Nimo, Gordian Knot, Krystal .... Please help me to choose a best pack, thank you.

  2. You may want to try ffdshow or k-lyte. I prefer the k-lyte since I had problems with ffdshow, but many others like the latter. Choose one and if it doesn't work out, uninstall it and install the other. Stay away from nemo!

  3. None of them.

Get the codecs by your self. There arnt that many.

    DivX 3.11
DivX 5. I don't like DivX5 cause it takes over DivX3.11 so I use ffdshow to decode 5.
    XviD the latest stable binary.
HuffYUV if you don't have it.
    MJPEG.
    MPEG-2 codec.

And you don't get the load of problems that come with the codec packs.

Do not use NIMO. You'll be sorry. I had to reformat once because of it. It will louse up your capture codecs especially and overwrites material without asking.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

Codec packs are a shotgun approach and can cause conflicts. If you just install codecs as you need them, you'll likely avoid problems. Get Gspot from the Tools section to test your files and only install codecs as necessary.

  6. Thank you all for reply soon. I installed Nimo in the past, but now I've just re-install Windows, may be I'll choose K-lite. Hope that it will work fine. Goodbye.
